Time flew by in Andrew Sloat’s hour-long presentation at the Apple Store last Tuesday night.

Andrew charmed and delighted a packed auditorium, serving up the best (and most quizzical) moments from his mix of roles as student actor, conceptual video maker, and graphic designer.

The crowd got a glimpse into Andrew’s more formative years as a stage actor in high school and college.

Unabashedly self-effacing, Andrew then led us to the very first moment when he developed a spark of interest for graphic design.

Fast forward to Andrew at Yale, who had quickly formed an earnest fascination with letterforms, in both the second and third dimensions.

Ever enchanted with meaning in its multiple forms, Andrew explained how he delved head-first into the divide between visual information and typographic information. All the while, his steadfast love of theater and acting established itself in Andrew’s earliest typographic performances.

This persistent fascination with moving, dynamic letter forms in real space is now manifested in a number of Andrew’s personal projects and client work.

Ever conscious of current events and the political climate, Andrew set about applying this powerful medium to a message that concerns every American.
