Come and join us to catch the last moments of Catch&Release, the Design/Relief’s Seaport team project, as we conclude its first phase and are about to embark on the next chapter. To continue celebrating the cultural resilience of the South Street Seaport, our installation will be open all day, this is your last chance to participate. This time around we ride along the “Out to See” festival, whose art and music programming will animate the neighborhood day and night, throughout the weekend.
With hundreds of “Thank You” messages accumulated since the beginning of the year, the Catch&Release installation has become the visual symbol of the unity, shared visions and rich social network of the Seaport, post-Hurricane Sandy. The next phase of our initiative will look to unearth the cultural treasures, references, traditions, and stories–old and new – hidden within this distinctive historic waterfront. Catch & Release playfully invites the community to share their stories, which will become the springboard for its design-driven solution to activate empty spaces in the Seaport. Guided tours, community charrettes and public programming will be announced soon. Stay tuned.
