1/ Advertising Week

With more than 200 distinct events, Advertising Week is a hybrid of thought leadership seminars featuring the industry’s best and brightest and engaging special events which galvanize targeted constituencies.

2/ Print’s Color Conference

The world of visual culture shares one powerful influence: color. This event will bring creative thinkers and experts in visual culture together to reveal their passion for color, their processes, and their ideas on how color connects us all.

3/ New Green City

New Green City is New York City’s largest annual environmental community fair.

When: Wednesday, October 5, 2011, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Where: Union Square Park, South Plaza, NYC

Price: Free and open to the public

4/ Hacking with NYC Resistor

Emerging out of 1960’s American academia, a subculture of computer programmers championed freedom of information sharing as both an ideal and a practical strategy. Partnering with the hackers collective NYC Resistor, MAD presents drop in workshops that gives viewers, from the novice to the expert, tools and resources to better tackle, push, and re-invent their use of the electronic devices that shape our lives.

When: Thursday, October 6, 2011, 6:00 pm

Where: Museum of Art and Design, 2 Columbus Circle, NYC

Price: Free with pay-what-you-wish admission

5/ Michael Maltzan: No More Play

Michael Maltzan, principal of Los Angeles-based Michael Maltzan Architecture, will present his firm’s work. Since founding his firm in 1995, Maltzan has created a practice committed to “creating architecture that is a catalyst for new experiences and an agent for change in our cities.”

When: Thursday, October 6, 2011, 7:00 pm

Where: The Great Hall, The Cooper Union, 7 East 7th Street, NYC

Price: Free to League members, $15 general public

6/ Cmmnwlth: In Lieu of Flowers

Come and hear husband and wife team Zoe Coombes and David Boira share the ins and outs on some of their collaborative efforts that comprise of Cmmnwlth.

When: Thursday, October 6, 2011, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Where: Bumble and bumble, 3rd floor auditorium, 415 West 13th Street, NYC

Price: $20 AIGA members, $10 student members, $30 general public
