1/ The Guardian Egyptian
In 2003 Paul Barnes was approached to be the typographic consultant on the redesign of the Guardian newspaper. Christian Schwartz will discuss the complete process behind the development of Guardian Egyptian, including false starts and changes of direction, and explain how and why the Guardian’s needs lead to a family of 200-odd styles.

3/ AIGA/NY Members Series: My Dog and Pony III
Back again, another chance to be a fly on the wall during other designer’s presentations. Re-presenting presentations, just as they were presented to the client will be Eric Adolfsen and Mike Calvert of Brand New School (Cartoon Network rebranding), Greg Matson of Mother (Target Kaleidoscopic Fashion Spectacular at the Standard Hotel), Joe Marianek of Pentagram (Guitar Hero), and Debbie Millman, Chair of the SVA Branding program (pitching a degree program).

5/ Barbara deWilde and Peter Mendelsund: Seeking Approval
Barbara deWilde and Peter Mendelsund, longtime Knopf jacket designers, delve into their oeuvre, and offer a grand tour of rejection, insecurity, resistance, obstinance, and egoism in an attempt to highlight the overall psychodrama of the approval process.

6/ Peter Schjeldahl: Of Ourselves and of Our Origins: Subjects of Art
Critic Peter Schjeldahl will pose the question, “At a time when art is being publicly gamed to exhaustion, can we still, or again, speak sensibly of what we like about it, deep down?” Schjeldahl has been the art critic of The New Yorker since 1998. Prior to that he was a regular art critic for The New York Times, The Village Voice, ARTnews and 7 Days, and published five books of poetry between 1967 and 1981.

7/ WDGFC 2010: The 7th Annual World Graphic Design Foosball Championship
Foosball will be played, beer will be consumed and the winner will again walk away with the coveted one-legged trophy as the years most outstanding graphic design foosball side.

9/ Creative Art Making Workshop: Pop Culture Soft Sculpture
