1/ Type Design as a Second Career: W.A. Dwiggins Starts Over at Age 49
Place Dwiggins’ type design efforts into the context of his wide-ranging career as a commercial artist, examining the impact of calligraphy, historical typefaces, stencils, marionettes and book design on his typefaces.

2/ Tales From the Borderlands of Typographic Experience
If you’ve ever seen a page of the Talmud, with its interlocking blocks of type on every page, you may have wondered why it was made that way and how it was constructed. What do these books have tell us about the possibilities for today’s books, both in print and, especially, new forms of e-books? Scott-Martin Kosofsky, who will talk about some of his recent breakthroughs and experiments, reviving and reinterpreting old ideas and working out new ones.

3/ Laurie Anderson
Musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson creates large-scale theatrical works that combine music, video, storytelling, projected imagery and sculpture. Her work has been shown at the Guggenheim Museum SoHo, as well as extensively in Europe, including the Centre Georges Pompidou.
