1/ An Evening with Juan Daniel F. Molero

Juan Daniel F. Molero presents the New York premiere of his “neurological feature, Reminiscencias (Reminiscences) (2010), which explores identity, autobiography, and the creation and loss of memory. A young man suffering from amnesia uses 8mm home movies and videos from his cell phone to puzzle out his own history. The screening is followed by a discussion.

2/ Winter Bash

It’s that time of year again. Get ready to rock those galoshes right off your feet, it’s AIGA/NY’s annual Winter Bash!

When: Tuesday, December 20, 2011, 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Where: Galapagos Art Space, 16 Main Street, Brooklyn, NY

Price: $13 AIGA members, $26 general public

3/ Design with the Other 90%

For the first time in history, the majority of the earth’s approximately seven billion inhabitants live in cities. Design with the Other 90% features sixty projects, proposals, and solutions that address the complex issues arising from the unprecedented rise of informal settlements in emerging and developing economies.

When: Ongoing through January 9, 2012

4/ Design 1935–1965: What the modern Was

In 1991, the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts organized Design 1935–1965: What Modern Was. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this landmark exhibition, NYSID will pay homage to an event that became a touchstone of modern design and a catalog that is widely regarded as the bible for understanding midcentury design.
