Join ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 for the launch of Thanks for the View, Mr. Mies, a new publication from Metropolis Books that looks at a middle-class residential complex in downtown Detroit called Lafayette Park, home to the largest collection of buildings designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the world. 8/ Lettering & Calligraphy for Typeface Design: Capitals with Sumner Stone
Two hands-on weekend workshops given by Sumner Stone. They are both called Lettering and Calligraphy for Typeface Design. The first, October 20–21, will be drawing and designing the the capital letters. The second, December 1–2 will focus on the lower case. The workshops are structured so that they may be taken individually or as a pair. Both workshops will include instruction and practice in the basics of formal writing and lettering using various tools including the edged pen, pencils, pointed lettering brushes, and felt-tip pens.
