1/ Design Is One
Limited showing of documentary, “Design is One,” featuring two of the world’s most influential designers, Lella and Massimo Vignelli. Their work covers such a broad spectrum that one could say they are known by everyone, even by those who don’t know their names. Adhering to self-proclaimed motto, “If you can’t find it, design it,” their achievements in industrial and product design, graphic and publication design, corporate identity, architectural graphics, and exhibition, interior, and furniture design have earned worldwide respect and numerous international awards for over 40 years. Film by Kathy Brew & Roberto Guerra. 79min.

2/ Video in Publishing: Keep Your Magazine Moving!
The magazine evolution will be televised. Join SPD for a panel discussion with today’s top talent on integration of print and video, creative solutions to small screens and more.

3/ Eric Heiman
In 2011, Eric Heiman took almost a year off from everything design—his practice, his teaching gig, his writing, even that cursed social media—to read, travel, take photos, get all existential, and deny that this sabbatical was anything like the ones that famous Austrian graphic designer takes. He shares insights, new work, and tips on how to treat bacterial infections of the gut.

4/ The Quay Brothers
Best known for their stop-motion animated films The Cabinet of Jan Svankmeyer (1984), Street of Crocodiles (1986), In Absentia (2000) and their feature film Institute Benjamenta (1995), the Quay Brothers have produced a diverse body of work in illustration and the graphic arts, set design for opera, dance, theater, commercials, music videos and sculpture, much of which was exhibited during their exhibition and film retrospective at MoMA in 2011-12.

5/ Ideation Deep Dive
Deep dive night class around the Ideation phase of the design thinking process. The class will have high relevancy for entrepreneurs, everyday problem solvers, and people in the corporate world alike. Having good ideas is applicable to everyone.
When: Tuesday, November 5, 2013, 7:00pm–9:15pm

6/ Mix: Designer + Drinks
The first Wednesday of every month, AIGA/NY invites members and their guest to enjoy two happy hours at The Wooly, a historic private bar in the basement of the Woolworth building. A different designer or studio will host each event, on November 6th join SoHo brand consultancy DIA for live music, video projection, two-for-one drink specials, and more.

7/ How Did They Do That? Panel Discussion and Presentation
Lead Blue Sky Studios crew members show and tell about the making of Twentieth Century Fox Animation’s EPIC movie.

8/ Henrik Kubel
Henrik Kubel graduated from Denmark’s Design School in 1997, and went on to complete a Postgraduate degree in Communication Art & Design at the Royal College of Art in 2000. Upon graduation Henrik co-founded A2/SW/HK with fellow graduate Scott Williams. A2/SW/HK has a conceptual approach to design across various media, including design for print, screen and interiors.

9/ Patricia Field
Award winning film and television costume designer, and nightlife icon Patricia Field discusses her work. For over four decades Field’s namesake Greenwich Village boutique has been a defining influence on the intersection of nightlife and fashion in New York.
