1/ Linear Language
2013 Annual Members’ Open Exhibition by the Society of Scribes strives to foster an appreciation for calligraphy in the wider community. The exhibition presents a wide range of calligraphic work — from amateurs, students, and professionals alike — demonstrating the vitality of this art and craft, and its range from traditional to experimental.
When: Opening Reception on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, 6:00pm–8:00pm, featuring guest speaker Julio Vega; Ongoing through December 14, 2013

Price: Free and open to the public

2/ GIVE/GET Holiday Party
Join AIGA/NY in celebrating the end of a great year with raffles for a variety of prizes, full cash bar, drink specials & DJ, custom designed wrapping paper, games, and more to come.
When: Wednesday, December 4, 2013, 8:00pm–12:00pm
Where: The Wooly, 11 Barclay Street, NYC
Price: $25 donation members, $35 general public. All ticket proceeds benefit the AIGA/NY High School Mentoring Program, connecting designers and students in New York for over 20 years.

3/ Lettering Large: Architectural and Environmental Typography
A flyby with Steven Heller and Mirko Ilic. Typography has jumped off the printed page to stand on its own as branding, sculpture, and even architecture. Lettering Large examines this phenomenon through a diverse collection of images collected from a vast range of sources around the world.

4/ InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator Essentials: Snoozer to Power User!
One-day workshop with Adobe Certified Expert and designer Scott Citron on the Adobe Creative Suite. In addition to learning a slew of cool keyboard shortcuts, you’ll finally understand how to really use InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator like a pro. This is the class you should have taken years ago but never did.
