1/ Welcoming Stories Potluck and Screening
Celebrate New York City’s 10th Annual Immigrant Heritage Week with a potluck style ‘welcoming dinner’ where local residents can meet others in the community and welcome each other with favorite dishes from their home country and a screening of short films which explore personal narratives of people immigrating to America.
When: Sunday, April 21, 2013, 4:30pm–7pm

Price: Free and open to the public

2/ Branding Terror
Branding Terror explores the visual identity of the world’s major terrorist groups, analyzing the symbolism, colors and wording on logos and flags. The author Artur Beifuss will explain the idea behind the project and talk about the process of research.

3/ Graphic Design + Architecture, A 20th Century History
Lecture, book signing and reception for Graphic Design + Architecture, A 20th Century History by Richard Poulin.

4/ Bell and Boulet
Sit down with witty and incisive authors, Boulet and Gabrielle Bell, for a conversation moderated by Karen Green, graphic novel librarian at Butler Library, Columbia University.

5/ First 4 Years
Spring edition of the First 4 Years talk is an informal panel discussion with Wesley Allsbrook, Jonathan Bartlett, Tuesday Bassen, Daniel Fishel, Rich Tu, and Roxie Vizcarra as they discuss how they navigated through the first few months to the first four years of their careers. This talk is geared towards illustration students and recent graduates looking to get a advice and encouragement from a few young illustrators who are just a few years ahead of them.
