You loved it, but the client didn’t. It’s been occupying an exalted place in your file drawer, hard drive, or bulletin board. Now it will finally get its due.

AIGA Metro-North cordially invites you to participate in our first-ever Salon des Refusés: an exhibit of rejected graphic design work at a gala season kickoff party—with food, drink, friends and a funny talk on how to sell your work by Pentagram partner Michael Bierut, former AIGA/NY and AIGA National president.

There are no entry procedures or fees (after all, the work has already been rejected).

On the evening October 3, the Toniq studio, HQ of AIGA Metro-North president Cheryl Swanson, will be filled with colleagues, music, hors d’oeuvres, liquid refreshments, and floor-to-ceiling bulletin boards.

Just bring a piece or two you want the world to see (printed out @ 11 x 14″ or so) along with a card with a tweet-length description of each project and the client’s reason for rejecting it. You’ll get to pin up your work and see if your peers, fellow AIGA members, give it a thumbs-up (and maybe even an award) this time.

Awards in categories include “Best Dog’s Dinner,” “The CEO’s Wife Hated It Award,” etc.

AIGA/NY member designers have been invited to be on the jury.
