2/ Unconventional Path
Greg Lamarche discusses how graffiti has influenced his development as a collage artist, letterist and illustrator. The talk will explore techniques and unorthodox practices using hand lettering in relationship to fine art and commercial art.

3/ Deco Printmaking Workshop
Graphic designer Adrienne Wong leads a three-hour workshop on basic block-printing techniques. Create multi-color, unique greeting cards and tea towels with Art Deco motifs inspired by the exhibition Deco Japan: Shaping Art and Culture, 1920-1945.

4/ TDC Walking Tour with Paul Shaw: Midtown East
Because of its constantly evolving architecture and businesses, Midtown is full of a wide array of lettering examples. On the east side, between 42nd Street and 59th Street, we have an opportunity to see many examples of Art Deco, 1920s Gothic lettering, some 1950s scripts, a little bit of neon, and plenty of post-1970s commercial typography (including the work of Paula Scher).

5/ Against Type
This talk will feature various typographic tales from Heads of State as they fall in love with letters, rebel against fonts, forsake letterforms to become illustrators, and then beg for forgiveness.

7/ Visual Design, Sound & the Wilderness
Over the last 5 years The Wilderness has garnered acclaim for their direction of seminal music videos. Originally a design and motion graphics firm, The Wilderness has stepped into more live-action projects including documentaries, brand films and commercials. The team will discuss various apexes of filmmaking and how it relates to design, fine art and music.
