1/ Alberto Alessi in Conversation with Bill Moggridge

The conversation will focus on the history of Alessi’s development as an Italian Design Factory from its beginning in 1921, through the present and into the future.

2/ Because I Say So: The Dangerous Appeal of Moral Authority, book talk by Nikki Stern

If author Nikki Stern found it hard to be known as a 9/11 widow after her husband’s death, she was also perturbed by the idea that survivors of tragedies like her were sometimes seen as “moral authorities.”

When: Tuesday, November 23, 2010, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Price: Free and open to the public

3/ Modern Life: Edward Hopper and His Time

The exhibition highlights the work of Edward Hopper, whose use of the subject matter of modern life to portray universal human experiences made him America’s most iconic realist painter of the 20th century.

When: Ongoing exhibition through April 10, 2011

Where: Whitney Museum of American Art, 945 Madison Avenue, NYC

Price: Free Whitney members, $12 students, $18 general public
