Members and guests of the New York Chapter of AIGA gathered on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Pentagram for Unique New York: The Auction Party, the inaugural live auction fundraiser.

Proceeds from the auction will help our chapter to cover the shortfalls of sponsorship this year and contribute substantially to our mission. “Without the funding we cannot do the programming,” said Stacey Panousopoulos, AIGA/NY chapter administrator.

Attendees enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, red velvet whoopie pies and bid on art auction items ranging from large art pieces to small sculptures.

Our auction, led by the auctioneer Michael Bierut, featured a small collection of covetable framed artwork, collage and constructions by Milton Glaser, Seymour Chwast, Ivan Chermayeff, Paula Scher, Massimo Vignelli, Maira Kalman, Todd St. John, Christoph Niemann, Rodrigo Corall, James Victore, Gary Panter and Stephen Doyle. Sixteen lucky highest bidders took home pieces of Unique New York. Bidding was by phone, in person and online.

Thank you to everyone who came out to have fun and supported the New York Chapter of AIGA!
